So before I cut my Coluzzle mat, I made sure I could get a new mat--I really do like the regular size, after all!
I checked online, and found California Paper Goods. Sure enough, I could get a new mat for only $1.99. Then I looked at their other Coluzzle products...
I was intrigued when I saw that they make a scoring tool. Scoring is basically putting a fold line in paper--using a thin blunt instrument, a crease is made that is easy to fold.
Here's a view of the labels (I tried to take one photo of tips and names, but the angle wasn't right!). The Swivel Knife is the one we normally think of--it has the cutting blade on it. Notice it is in yellow. This is the one that comes in the Coluzzle Starter Kit that Stampin' Up! sells.
The blue is the new scoring tool. I'm glad they color-coded them, since otherwise they look a lot alike (except for the tip...)
Provided the post looks as it does for me here, here's a photo of the tips. (Sorry the cutting blade is dirty--what can I say? I love it!).
The swivel blade is quite sharp, while the scoring one is not. Both come with a cover which I highly recommend keeping and using for storage! I keep my swivel blade in my cup holder on my desk, along with scissors and other supplies. The scoring blade gets stored in my cutting tools drawer (yes, I have such a drawer!).
As you can see, the scoring tip is rounded. The tip feels smooth to the touch. As with the swivel knife, the tip swivels, rotating all 360 degrees. It of course also fits in the channels of the Coluzzles.
Next time I'll show you why I bought the scoring tool (other than the, "Ooh! It's new! I want it!" factor!
Happy stamping!
